Trewhella has been involved in Fencing tools for more than 50 years, no doubt deriving from the company’s earliest roots over a century ago in the livestock-rearing areas of Australia.
Monkey® Wire Strainer
Monkey® Wire Strainers can be found wherever fences and wires are used: enclosing cattle in cattle country; stretching sheep and pig netting; tightening the wires used when growing grapes in vineyards. They can be found on the floor of many a 4x4, or in the tractor's tool box, to be available whenever needed for emergency fencing repairs. We have even heard of them being used to help deliver calves (not recommended)!.
The picture we show was taken by Peter Roworth for 'Conservation Land Management', one of English Nature's publications
A wire strainer is a very specialised piece of engineering. The Trewhella Monkey® Wire Strainer is British made and is considered to be ‘the best in the world’.
Although Monkey® Wire Strainers are built to be very long lasting, not only can we can service them at our UK works, but we can also supply any spare parts that may be necessary via our stockists throughout the world.
Uses in viticulture
Wire strainers are not just tools for farmers and cattle breeders. In viticulture, wine growers need to repair and re-tension the wires along which the grapes grow. Here again we see the 'Monkey' in use. We supply them to a number of countries that grow grapes and produce wine.
Monkey® Posthole Borers
An easy to use, hand powered post hole borer. The simplest way to produce an accurate hole, it minimises the amount of concrete you have to mix in order to fix a fence post! The special ‘disc’ shaped boring head is specially designed to enable a depth to be bored, the spoil easily removed, and boring to continue – ‘corkscrew’ type borers can be far more difficult to remove. The borer stem is 1 metre long which satisfies most needs, but you can use our extension tubes when necessary for deeper holes.
We also make Auger Heads, which are used for sampling soils or gravel. These are usually sold without extension tubes and handles, but these can be supplied on request to suit your particular requirements.
